Tired of searching for the perfect cut to suit your body type as well as your fashion sense? SS Homme is helping you suit up, says Rhea Dhanbhoora.

We like men to look dapper. And luckily for us, so does Sarah Sheikh. She’s on a mission to help men in the city look more elegant, stylish and classy without being boring. Her bespoke label, ‘SS Homme’ introduces men to a range of tasteful cuts and colours. And, the home of her creations has shifted base from her house to a studio in Khar.

There are quite a few shirts and suits on display, but before you begin to  think you can traipse down and sift through them, let’s remind you that her brand is bespoke, which means that you’ll have to take an appointment and head down for your own customized styling and fit. She also makes Bandhgala suits as offerings for traditional formal wear. Sarah’s putting the gentle back in man with her collection, along with a peppering of vibrant colours, because, why should men look boring?

The studio itself is a quirky black and white space. There is a light that could double up as a top hat, black and white frames and a makeshift changing room for men to try on what they’ve had custom- made.

They’ve already got an impressive roster, chalked up with meetings and clients to meet all day. The client consultation room is well lit and bare enough not to overload you with designs or suggestions. We were lucky enough to visit at the same time as a client and the cheery smiles, easy handshakes and personalized attention  were quite impressive.

It’s no Saville Row, but you can tell it’s been inspired by the high-class English, made-to-measure service, with classic European cuts beautiful detailing and not a stitch out of place. However, don’t worry about looking like a run-off-the-mill businessman when you shop at SS Homme as Sarah likes to add a playful touch to collars, cuffs and buttons. We also love that they seem quite fond of bow ties at the studio – all of which are also customizable!

Their custom-made shirts start at ₹4,000 but be prepared to shell out a lot more for a suit or a dinner jacket. The entire process will take you around 10 days, inclusive of consultations, fabric selections, fittings and pick up – so make sure you have time on your hands and don’t expect a quite fix. SS Homme may look like a tiny, unimpressive studio, but it packs in a punch. We suggest you put it up on your list of brands to indulge in.
