DRESS TO IMPRESS…THE INTERVIEWER

Looking for a new job in this slow market, while the rupee is falling as quickly as if King Leonidas himself kicked it into a seemingly bottomless well declaring, "This Is Sparta!". Your prospects need not do so because you wont be clad in leather briefs among other things.

Once you’ve got you resume embellished and ready to shine, its time to turn your attention to your wardrobe. First impressions are important so make this one count and you’re halfway there to getting that new job.

  •    Wear trousers and not jeans

For all those first timers out there, you may have the perfect shirt and jacket to wear over those new jeans that make you look great, but save that for your friend’s party.

  •            Your all tied up

The nerves are getting to you but you are not sure which tie matches you suit. Don’t make these mistakes-
Wear that super skinny tie you recently bought. Why?  Because the interviewer is most likely more experienced and older than you and a regular tie is most likely to give him the impression that you are taking your career seriously.
Make sure your tie is not denim and crumpled having been removed from the bottom of your drawer. A sharp silk or knit tie always lends gravity to your persona.
Don’t go for an overly bright colour and one of your funny Homer Simpson print ties. You may get the humour but the chances are that your interviewer may not. Opt instead for subtle prints and muted solids that elevate your suit.

  •         Leave no room for creases
Let the Interviewers cross-question you all they want but be confident and don’t let the creases show. Make sure your suit is ironed and a clean shirt is pressed beforehand so you need not be scurrying around before the interview.

  •            Toeing the Issue

Make sure your shoes are polished and all the mud stains from the aftermath of the torrential rain is washed off.

  •             Stick to the Classics

A classic black, dark blue or grey suit will help project your seriousness. But strike the right balance between boring and unique with the help of accessories.

  •            Groom well

Don’t forget to shave that goatee or stubble. Keep it clean and make sure your hair is short and not all over the your face.
